A home network is actually
a combination of existing networks - telephone (phones, faxes, answering
machines), computer (PCs, scanners, printers, etc.), security (motion
detectors, baby monitors, intercom, etc) and entertainment (TVs,
sound systems, home theaters, remote controls, etc).
Connect these systems and you begin to build
your home's network. But before you get to the connecting stage,
you need an infrastructure that will make that connectivity possible.
That infrastructure is your home wiring system.
Home networks are a relatively new concept
(you'll find more information on our "Home Automation"
and "Wiring Infrastructure" pages.) but the idea of connecting
existing networks, and even adding programmable home appliances,
is here to stay. As you explore this new world, you'll discover
new terms (Networked homes, smart homes, connected homes, etc.)
and new possibilities. Let ACT help you navigate this new terrain.
