  • Our commercial customers depend on reliable communications' infrastructure and technology. They need a firm that can design, specify, bid and manage the installation of these systems as well as integrate computer, telephony and audio/visual devices into their networks. They turn to ACT for this expertise and the ability to efficiently handle their projects from start to finish.

If your future plans involve relocating your operations or renovating/expanding your existing space, or expanding into new space, we can help you in assessing your current situation and future needs; planning and designing your voice, data, A/V and security wiring/cabling infrastructure; installing these systems; and integrating the entire package.

No matter how small, every move or relocation is complex. There are countless details to distract you while you try to conduct your real business operations. From a technology and systems perspective, here are a few thoughts to keep in mind as you begin the process.

    • Access the current situation: Have the cabling/wiring infrastructure assessed to determine its capability to support your computer networking, communications and A/V needs.

    • Assume you'll have to do some recabling: Existing cable won't necessarily be reusable. Plan and budget accordingly.

    • Keep your staff informed: Your people will think of details, systems and otherwise, that you may miss. They'll also want to make sure that their own systems are ready to go on day one.

    • Plan for future growth and changes: It's far less costly to future-proof your infrastructure during the construction or renovation phase than to retrofit later. Reconfigurations, staff additions, etc., can be accommodated in a well designed system.

    • Order now: Place your service provider orders ASAP or risk delays in data or phone service. As an example, the average delivery time for a T1 is approximately 60 days.

    • Develop specifications before bidding the work: A competitive bidding process without systems specifications won't allow you to make a legitimate comparison on proposals and costs.

    • Get what you want: you can get flexible, maintainable plug-and-play cable infrastructures if you think through your needs ahead of time.

    • Allocate sufficient space for communications systems

    • Manage change: Moving, renovating or expanding is about managing change. Don't neglect your people during this process. Tell them what to expect and when. Talk to them often. Solicit their issues. Make them part of the solution.
